Google maps is sure to have more and more guides in the near future, no wonder if the count go millions…! Good for every one right?
But is there a platform where the guides get reviewed? I haven’t seen any so far.
So why dont we start to review the local guides! That will help the reviewers know what value addition would make their posts better and so the users/viewers/consumers also gets benefited. There is always scope for development and progress, lets all come together to identify the good, better, best & Better than the best;-) local guides (in your region) who contribute well to the google maps in other words thousands or millions who use google maps on daily basis. And its our responsibility to recognise, motivate & honour them. Isnt it?
I am adding the location as Coimbatore (the region I belong to).
Now, the question is how to do this? Shall we put the names, with region the guide belongs, that each of us think that he/she has contributed well. And, put in any ideas of yours as well…
I am sure some are out there who belong to the globe and doesn’t restrict them with one region…
Just curious how the responses for this topic is going to be…
No, there is not a place where you can find a list of Local Guides. For privacy purpose, Google do not share this kind of information, @Karthik227
In any case, what do you mean with “rating a Local Guide”. If you like a photo or a review, you can give a like to the contribution but, what about the contribution that nobody see? Fact checking, edits, Q&A are not shown, for a good reason. What define a good Local Guide? Points? Or quality of the contribution? As you can see, it is not very simple, not for me at least, to define what a Top Local Guide is, or what contributing well means.
And yes, you are correct. We don’t get to see the list of local guides anywhere. I understand the importance of privacy though. However you get to see the guides when you search for a place in maps, and the photos and reviews.
And, google sends e-mail like “you are identified among the top 1% of the local guides in your region”, if this is possible then there has to be ways to rate a local guide. Also I agree defining a good local guide isn’t that easy, will involve lots of mechanics and deriving those mechanics is a very very hectic task and needs expertise!! That I certainly don’t have…
The sole objective of this post is to credit local guides who really have helped people in identifying/ deciding on choices. I travel a lot and many of the choices I made, the review helped me and I responded to few guides, on their post, and thanked. Like wise, many guides would have helped in deciding choice and why not put them in a platform and so others can recognize these people as genuine guides?? (Of course google needs to intervene and introduce tags like Genuine or something…)
Hope it makes sense.
