How to host Virtual Meetup?

Hello LGs

Namaste ,

In last post I have introduced you about Virtual Meetup. If you have not read please read here.

In this article i will introduce you a way to host the virtual meetup.

Step 1:- PLAN FOR OFFLINE MEETUP

The very first step is old conventional but the most important. Offline meetup are always most preferred one. Plan about meetup in following aspects:-

Step 2:- PLAN FOR VIRTUAL MEETUP

  • Choose the Platform/ App- While Selecting platform, please check requirements like “how many participants are going to attend video conference,” & “What is max limit of the platform.” I prefer Free Conference Call****. It has limit of 1000 participants at a moment. It has web as well as app version and people can join a conference using any mode.
  • Schedule The Conference:- Create account on the selected platform. Then schedule the Video Conference on the Time and date decided in step 1.

Step 3:- DESCRIBE YOUR MEETUP

  • Describe your meetup with all details including why you’re excited to host it. Include the fun things you will be doing any important details like what people should bring and where to meet.
  • You must include the video conference details through which people can join the Virtual Meetup. Suggested by @KatyaL

Step 4:- SHARE

  • Spread the word on Connect and your social channels
  • Ask Local Guides who are planning to attend to help you spread the word.
  • Don’t forget to use #LocalGuides when sharing your meet-up.

Step 5:- MEET

Thank You for giving your time if you ever try virtual meetup please share the story on this comment.

I’m very interested in the Virtual Meetup and I’d love to host some. Do you know of anyone who has done one? What was the experience? Is the entire time shared on the conference? What about limited internet access? Thought about sharing the event afterwards via video? I’m in places all the time that I’d love to hold meetups and I know there is limited to no internet/cell phone access. Thoughts?
