My name is Hani, I live in small town called Maadi in Cairo/Egypt.
Maadi is like a maze for anyone who doesn’t live there. With the streets are numbers not names, and the fact that it consist of roundabouts that look exactly the same, and above all this there’s no sign to tell you where to go , all that makes Maadi one of the easiest place to get lost on the planet!
So, naturally when I found that I could share places and post great restaurants and coffee shops on Google maps, and answer questions on how to get there and the facilities that each place have, I just went crazy taking photos and answering as many questions as I can.
Here’s one of my posts that got a lot of attention due to the famous show Game of Thrones:
I remember how it was before the internet, finding a good place to eat, or have a live music (since I am a musician this was the number 1 priority). Now it’s easier than ever to find where and when a live band will be, or how cheap/expensive is a restaurant thank to Google maps.
Beside, in Egypt the roads doesn’t have lots of signs to tell you where to go - I still don’t know why, that’s why I use Google maps every where I go, not only to find the place, but also to find the best route to get me there, as we have the worst traffic ever!
Coming to Maadi was once an adventure, the visitor have no idea where to go or how to get to his destination. But Google maps made it easier than ever, now I don’t worry when I invite my friends for a drink, or go to pup with a live band, they just use Google maps and Wallah they are here! Thanks Google.
