How to get the elevation graph on Android version of Maps?

The Maps app offered a valuable feature of displaying an elevation graph in walking directions.
I had utilized that aspect extensively on my phone as well as on the desktop.

(The screenshot below is from my saved archives.)

However, after the recent update (10.25.2, dated 16th Sept 2019), I could not get that graphical depiction of ups & downs.
Surprisingly, the utility is still there in the IOS version of Maps.
How to re-activate that useful specialty in Android version?

Hi @C_T

Elevation graph is a part of bike directions on navigation, not walking. As I remember it has never been possible to get elevation graph on walking directions on Android or you were a part of Google tests. Maybe I’m wrong. You must remember that bike navigation is not enabled for all countries - so, it’s not possible to get elevation graph on every route.

The screenshot above is for the walking directions I had snapped in Austin Tx.

Below is a screenshot for walking directions at my location, which I captured in July’19.
The cycling routes were never available here.

Here is another screenshot for similar such direction in Japan.

Thus, the feature was very much there.
I also replied one idea mentioning that as an existing feature & Google moderator MashaPS had confirmed that.
That seems to be either withdrawn or hiding behind some obscure setting & hence the query.

Maybe it was a test on Android. Please Send a Feedback from Android Maps app, that you’ve liked that feature and you want it back. It’s possible that with some of the next updates this feature will back.

I’ve never used that feature for walking directions.

I’ve just looked to my Android device and tried to find directions in Austin and it looks like this feature is available in last app version (10.25.2).

Try to test it in different places/areas. Try to clear the cache of app. Wait a day or two to check if it’s not a problem with maps servers in your region. If it doesn’t help -please switch on the feature of sending Maps reports after shaking a phone, choose a start and end point for the 1-2 miles walk, choose preview and if elevation graph still will not be visible, send a report with attaching all device data.

I found your post interesting because I never know there is such a feature of elevation graph.

I use a Samsung Android phone and the latest update for Google Map. I cannot get the cycling function in my place Hong Kong. However when I tested it by locating myself to Austin TX, I found the cycling option but still could not get the elevation graph. Then I played with the right hand corner settings, I got it. May be you can try. I attach a screenshot of what I set.
