Hi everyone, I’ve been a long-time member of the Local Guides community and have been contributing to Google Maps for quite some time. I’ve added photos, written reviews, answered questions, and made edits to locations in my area, but I’ve noticed that my contributions aren’t getting as many likes and comments as I’d hoped.
I’m still passionate about contributing to Google Maps and helping others discover great local businesses, but I’m feeling a bit discouraged by the lack of engagement on my contributions. I’ve tried to make my reviews and photos as helpful and informative as possible, but I’m not seeing the results I was hoping for.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for how to get more engagement on my contributions? I’d love to hear from other long-time members of the community who have faced similar challenges. Thanks in advance for your help!

A few possible answers:
It is way easier to get photo views than it is to get review views. I think the same counts for likes.
Some have tried to get the ball rolling by liking their own contributions. Please don’t. I believe this is reason to get suspended.
Having followers helps in getting more likes. Preferably followers that are genuinely interested in your contributions. Not just follower hoarders. You can increase your number of followers by following a ton of people who then feel obligated to follow you back. But they tend to follow a ton of people, so it is not very likely they will tap like under your contributions.
I try to follow only people I know and like, so I usually hand out a bunch of likes every time I look at what they posted recently in the App under Updates/Following.
Besides this there is not much you can do except making sure your contributions are of high quality.
Since your Maps profile is restricted I can not see your contributions. Normally there are easy improvements to photos and reviews. Make your profile unrestricted if you want some detailed comments on your photos and reviews.

You mentioned that my profile is restricted and I am unsure why this would be the case. I have been an active contributor to Google Maps and have always followed the community guidelines. Therefore, I am surprised and concerned about this restriction.
Could you please provide me with more information on why my profile was restricted and how I can proceed to have it unrestricted? I would appreciate any guidance or assistance you can provide in this matter.

It is just a setting.
You can change your privacy setting as explained here. It can also be done from a Desktop computer. Goto Your contributions, then Profile settings, then toggle Restricted profile.
If your setting is all ready unrestricted, something else is the problem. Let me know first.

You have 12K views on 69 public reviews. I think you have no reason to complain about the number of views of reviews. And you have 110 likes. Not bad.
But from your public profile i can see that you have added 129 reviews and only 69 of them are public.
Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the review guidelines.
Read about typical review guideline violations here. And please see my latest post called 4 Tips on writing better reviews.
If you are on a Desktop use this link to Count your hidden contributions. From a mobile device use this link.
If you want to identify which of your reviews are hidden check this post.
Please use the form called Account investigation for contributions not visible on Google Maps if you believe that some of your contributions have been wrongfully unpublished. Keep in mind, it takes several weeks for the check to be done, and you will not be notified about the result, so I suggest you check the status of your reviews once a week or so.
Some of your public reviews are great. While others are not really a review.
Try using the 4 Tips on your reviews to improve them.
Your photo contributions could use some cleaning. You are sharing duplicates and very similar photos. You don’t seem to blur or avoid recognizable faced.
Your photos of the back side of some chairs are probably not very helpful to anyone.
Please avoid night photos. And random photos of streets and people painting a sign.

Hidden reviews can only be seen by you. If you can’t explain the problem in details I have no chance to assist you. Use screenshots if nessesary.

@MortenCopenhagen my counter has stopped synchronising , I’ve been stuck on the same figure for nearly a week [though the individual photo count is increasing ]. I can’t understand what’s the problem, what I do wrong?

Here is a photo of your most recent photo contributions.
Pic/video # 1 and #2 were uploaded again to the same pin as #5 and 6. This can get you removed from the program as explained here.
Pic #3 = pic #4. Duplicates.
Pic #12 = Pic #13. Duplicates again.
Pic 14 is very similar to Pic 15.
I doubt # 17 is clearly showing the place.
Pic 18 to 28 are showing pretty much the same. We are advised not to share night photos. I suggest you delete all but 1 or two of them. I believe you created this pin since you are the only one that made contributions to it. There are already 2 pins on the map for this place. Please see my next screenshot. We should not create a new pin when it is already on the map. I suggest you merge the 3 into one. One of them has 104 reviews.
#30 = #35 Duplicates.
#31 = #34 Duplicates.
Video #29 = video #33.
Are Videos 36 and 37 clearly showing the place?
Pic 38 was taken at night and against the light. I believe you can make a better photo to represent the place.
