How to Get Local Guides Account Re-Enabled so that I Can Make Edits Again

Primary Issue: I’m a Level 9 Local Guide. Suddenly, when I make ANY edits, they are ALL immediately “Not Applied” rather than “Pending,” etc.

The situation: I primarily work on editing city parks in Texas (although I also upload photos and write reviews frequently - 64,000 points overall, 17,997,198 views on my photos, and 444,690 views on my 500+ reviews). A month ago, I visited Krakow, Poland. While I was there, I visited several Holocaust sites, and realized that in Google Maps, the name of the site was available in Polish but not in English. So I began inserting the English names for places as an aid to the many English speakers who visit the city. In the historic Jewish area of the city, where many atrocities took place, I visited a historic Jewish cemetery - Remuh Cemetery. The Wikipedia page for the location is here. While I was there, I uploaded several photos, including photo spheres, and then I edited its name and website. I understand that it’s a very sensitive location, but I tried to check several sites before carefully inserting the English name as “Remuh Cemetery.” (The Wikipedia page spells it “Remah,” but has “Remuh” as an alternative spelling, and most other sites spell the location “Remuh” - in addition to the travel guide I was using.) I believe this was the spelling I used, but I can’t confirm this because I wasn’t emailed about my edit - because it was immediately Not Applied. I also added the website, which I believe was the official Krakow city site to the location.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that the cemetery now has the name I gave it - presumably from someone else’s edit. Please disregard that fact because that’s not the issue here; the problem is that since making that edit, EVERY edit I make - in the United States or anywhere else - is immediately Not Applied. For example, in Levelland, Texas there’s a city park which is named “Levelland City Park,” and its listing in Google Maps already has a website for the location which lists it as a city park. There’s no doubt that it’s a city park. Yet when I simply try to change the category from “Park” to “City Park,” it’s immediately Not Applied - seconds later. This in itself isn’t surprising; strange things like this have always happened periodically as I edit. Some cities seem to have blanket policies in place, or policies for specific sites, which deny all edits. That doesn’t really bother me. However, this is just an example of how ALL my edits are now received instantaneously; it currently happens for every edit I make - EVERY edit in a variety of places throughout the country. In other words, I can no longer make edits. Edits I made before the Krakow trip are still being periodically accepted or denied, but all new edits I make are IMMEDIATELY discarded. No human could be rejecting every edit I make so quickly; it seems like my account has been changed somehow. I really try to help people through Google Maps and would love to continue doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you’ll hear from a Googler soon.

After helping millions of people over the years, it’s starting to look like I’m going to need to find another hobby, but I’m going to tag a few other moderators who have helped me in the past - @ErmesT and @Flash - to see if there’s any way they can help.

Hi @BrentBarnard

Your issue have been already escalated by @PaulPavlinovich , so Google is already informed about it.

Now, you should be a bit patient. The Connect Moderators are Local Guides, we cannot look in your profile to check if there is something wrong in there, this is something that only Google can do.

I am very sorry and I fully understand your feeling, Paul already did what is possible to do (reach Google for you) and it is not necessary to escalate your issue again

Oh ok - well thanks for giving me a bit of hope.

Hi @BrentBarnard remember that it is the weekend for the Googlers, they’re only around during their working week generally. They might have a few escalations to check as well.

You can also send feedback via the Maps App for problems like this.

Thanks @ErmesT
