How many times have you arrived at a popular spot when traveling and get disappointed because it is so crowded? There is many people with their selfie sticks, tripods, trying to get a good shot.
I have taken many photos in the most famous places of some cities and people asked me how did I get them without other tourists in them. No, the answer is not using Photoshop! Honestly, I am really bad at Photoshop so I would fail miserably if I tried to delete crowds from the image.
So the solution is simple: just wake up before anyone else! When I travel and want a perfect photo in a certain location, I wake up around 5am and try to be there at sunrise.
For example, in Colmar, during the Christmas Markets many people was waiting in line to take a pic in front of the famous pink house and the white Christmas tree (I’m sure you’ve seen tons of photos of this place on Instagram). So it is a good idea to take a walk before the markets open and get photos like these:
But if you are not a morning person, there are other tricks too (even though they’re not always effective). I went to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest around 11am when it was full of tourists and still managed to get a photo where it seems that I’m alone there. Just choose the right angle and try not to include the rest of people in it!
I think it’s really worth not being lazy in the mornings when traveling, waking up early always has a reward!
