How to get information local guides regarding their photos.

Hi all. I would like to know how do I contact another local guide regarding a photo they posted? I can see the photo with the individuals name in the top left corner. When I click on the name then I get the information of how many points the person have and their statistics of posts and reviews. The reason I would like to have more information on that photo was to find out how he got to that specific area. I am also planning a trip there but unsure of the route he took. Thanks in advance.

Since we value everyone privacy and safety you are not able to contact other Local Guides outside Connect. If you happen to find them on Connect, feel free to contact them using the private message.

You can’t contact a local guide by seeing the profile on Maps.

Further, there is no guarantee that the person has joined Connect and further, using the same screen name here on Connect.

Nevertheless, you can try by typing @ and then the Maps screen name and hope to succeed. Then you can contact that person through Private messaging.

However, to protect privacy, Google Maps team never reveals the identity of any LG.

Further, if the photo is objectionable, you can report that through the app and wait for its removal. Nothing more will be possible beyond that.

If you wish to praise that photo, make a mention here. That’s the final.

Like MashaPS shared that Google can’t public the details due to privacy. What I would suggest to you is that you can create a post on Connect about that place requesting other LGs to share their tips for the trip.

You might get very useful suggestions from the community.

@NW_du_Toit I believe folks have answered on privacy issues related to contacting LGs already. I would like to suggest using combination of Satellite view and Street View to identify more details about the location. However as you can imagine, you may or may not find street view in all locations. It is worthwhile trying that, specially if the place is reasonably popular. I have followed this several times to get some additional details of a place when the pictures on the map does not reveal what I am looking for. Hope this helps!
