Also, any searches on “Narragingy Reserve” on Google instead return results for “Nurragingy Reserve”.
However, I’ve twice submitted a name change through Google Maps, and both times the change has been rejected.
I’d like to know if there is any way of providing the supporting evidence to Google Maps so that they accept the change?
I’ts important because the error on Maps seems to be promoting other people (albeit unofficially) to perpetuate the error in other descriptions of the place.
It’s likely possible that other people / reviewers may be rejecting the change.
Does the venue have a photo, aside from the official Google Maps photo? Usually, that will help / convince the reviewers to approve the change. If you also have many good / approved edits, it will also increase your chances of getting auto-approved.
The venue has over 200 photos - but only one that I noted which shows the actual name. My main question is - is there any way of drawing people’s attention to photos/websites etc that give the correct name? As far as I can see, you just submit the edit and hope that someone will agree with you.
Although the edits are still being pre-emptorily rejected, I note that if I bring up that location on the Maps app, one of the questions I can answer is now “Would “Nurragingy Reserve” be a more appropriate name for this place?” (or something similar). So hopefully things are getting moving!
As this listing has a number, you can ask to the one whose number is there. Ask him to claim it for a while and change the name. After that tht feel free to leave it unclaimed(in case of it is not permissible).
As far as I can see there is no web page added to the listing in question. So, what I recommend is when you suggest the name edit to also add an official page, which is linked to the Nurragingy Reserve. If you have more questions related to edits not being approved or still pending, I recommend this article Why is my edit status Pending or Not Applied? which explains a little bit more our processes.
P.S.: For question related to Google Maps, it’s better to post them on Google Maps & Earth Help forum, where they will be reviewed by more knowledgeable and skilled experts.
Still shows the incorrect name to me. However I have been successful in getting the website added. There is a note that some edits take a while to become visible so we will see what happens. Hopefully, now the website is accepted showing the correct name, the name can be accepted too.
For peace of mind and no worries, we simply suggest the right edit and move on fast.
Remember it’s Google’s Map, nothing’s perfect and there’s plenty of time. In case the name’s still mis-spelled in a few months or a year, look at it again if it’s something you’re interested in.
We see so many times Local Guides nursing a suggested edit, sometimes even emotional when things are slow or frustrating. It’s more fun to pile up tons of good suggested edits for as many places as you can. We just forget the outcome of any individual contribution.
Because of Google’s behind the scenes, stuff happens fast sometimes, slow sometimes.
If you really want to learn the ins and outs about it, search Google’s Maps focused forums for what Flash has said about it. If you’re really stuck on it tag him.

Thanks - it’s not so much that I am getting hung up on this particular edit, but that I wanted to know if there was some alternative mechanism I was missing.
I’ve suggested a few edits for road layouts and navigation issues on Maps, and the process for that allows you to describe the problem precisely and provide evidence. Reviewing takes a little longer but my edits of that nature have always been accepted. As described in my first post, I was wondering whether there was some other way for submitting my proposed edit, together with evidence, so that it was less likely to be pre-emptorily knocked back. Unfortunately it looks like the answer is “no”.
