My neighborhood was recently renamed from “Stapleton” to “Central Park” as part of racial justice reforms, but there is no way to submit this as a problem through google maps. When I click “send feedback” and select the neighborhood name on the map, it is not available to select in the sidebar, just roads and places near the click. Here’s the neighborhood: https://goo.gl/maps/fwg2fZuCucLGff5t6 and you’ll see the wikipedia entry linked to it has the corrected name. Am I missing something, or is there no way to currently submit a problem with a neighborhood name? How do I get this updated?
We Local Guides are not able to make changes in base data @pennstatephil
You can Send feedback to Google maps about this place and add necessary proofs of that place in your feedback.
Thanks for the response, but as noted in my initial post, I can’t select the place to send feedback.
Hello @pennstatephil
We can’t edit a place name which appears in the fundamental map layer. Also we, cant, select that.
However, we can include that in a screenshot in the send feedback option & add further details justifying the change.
The following link explains how to do that in detail.

Nevertheless, there are some more options to achieve the desired change.
Mention the issue in the community pages of Maps help & support forum.

Another way is to route the requirement through the content partners. You can request the local authorities to do so. You will find some more information on that at this link.

PS: Edit-- Corrected the link of content partner page mentioned above.
Hello @pennstatephil ,
Thank you for reaching out. You can follow the tips fellow Local Guides shared with you.
In addition to that, I am marking @C_T 's reply as a solution, so other Local Guides can refer to it. The purpose of this feature is to help Local Guides find answers when searching on the Connect. Please take a look at How do I mark comments as solutions? article.
@TsekoV it’s not a great solution. I’d like to suggest that neighborhood names be included in options for corrections rather than having to work around it this way. I appreciate people taking the time to look at it and help, though.
Then you posted this in the wrong section of Connect.

You need to create a new post. But I’m afraid such a proposal will not be successful. It’s a balance. And fending off spammers is a serious problem.
If you are confused about areas and items on the maps not accepting edits and photos, please enjoy this overview Shapes and Places - Guidance on where to add edits and photos including both flat and photospheres by PaulPavlinovich.

PS You can change which reply you find is the best solution.
Hello @pennstatephil ,
Please refer to @C_T 's second and third recommendation.
Please do not attempt the first, as it will just waste your time. You are trying to fix a data issue; for that you should not be using the option to provide your opinion about Maps. Submitting issues via the wrong option does not get them rerouted to the correct place, it instead gets them ignored. The Feedback system does not allow you to submit edits to political features.
