How to find the most popular Ideas

At the time of writing updating this post there are 1384 1505 1682 1847 2079 ideas already submitted to Idea Exchange, and new ones are added every day. Most of those are in status ‘Voting open’ and have 0 to 3 votes, but some have much more. However, because of the sheer volume of ideas it is now virtually impossible to find out which ideas are popular (meaning: have already received a lot of votes), mainly due to the fact that the filtering and sorting options of Idea Exchange are very limited (an idea to improve this was already submitted, so don’t hesitate to upvote it).

To make it easier to find them, I have compiled a list of some of the ideas that have received 25 votes* or more, in order of the number of votes (whereby I purposely left out the ones that are only about getting perks); the number between brackets is the position in the list at the time of my previous update of the list.

I also purposely left out the names of the idea authors in this overview, just to make you curious enough to go and check the Ideas out - and of course vote for them if you like them

  • originally the cut was at 20 votes, but the list is getting too long…

@JanVanHaver Thanks for taking time to compile and share this. This will help to bring more visibility to popular ideas.

Hi @JanVanHaver you are right, we need more filtering and, eventually, a view of top exchange ideas in the homepage.

You’re welcome @Ivi_Ge . The original goal was to go through all 1384 of them (load a few - scroll down - click ‘More’ - repeat ad infinitum ) and my strategy was to right-click each idea that had 20+ votes and then open it in a new tab. But somewhere down the road I clicked instead of right-clicked one, which opened that particular idea and then lead me back to the top of the list… The neighbors might have wondered what I was yelling about in the middle of the night. So there might be more older ones with 20+ votes, as I did get quite far in the list, but not all the way down.

The underlying motivation to make this effort is the regret that such a wonderful initiative (the Idea Exchange) is being treated in a sub-optimal way. I have noticed that off late there has been a quicker follow up e.g. to close irrelevant ideas immediately, which is highly appreciated, but I really hope that a way can be found to really make popular ideas rise to the top - as the original intent was, according to the Idea Exchange homepage.

@NeerajKumarIndia That is indeed probably the idea with the most votes of all ideas, but I did not include it because, although it is not labeled ‘perks’, if you read the content it turns out that a big part of it is about getting perks for high level LGs (and perk-posts were deliberately left out). Plus this post is shown on top of the overall list more or less ever since beginning of Idea Exchange, so it is seen much more often than any other idea, which helps to explain the extremely high number of votes.

Farid.

I’ve just updated the number of votes again, and I have now also added the current position in the list and between brackets the previous one - so the “3. (4)” in front of the Idea by @Amiran means that it is now number and used to be nr. 4 - congrats to Amiran!

If you come across other Ideas that are not related to Perks and have received more than 25 votes, just add a comment to this post and I will add them to the list during the next round of updates.

@JanVanHaver

I saw that

How to write quality content for Connect…

in your list is already implemented. You can still vote for it, but I thought perhaps you might want to remove it from the list the next time you will update it or at least add a comment “implemented” to the entry…

Great feedback @user_not_found . I was already planning an update in the coming days, so I will certainly take that into account. There’s probably some additional ones by now with 20+ votes.

It’s a shame, by the way, that the LGC Team is not making more noise about ideas being implemented. One always has to find out ‘by accident’

I just made a major update to the list - as it turned out ever more ideas are now getting ever more votes :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations to @StephenAbraham , @NABILazeez , @MahabubMunna , @davidhyno , @ShravanJain , @NandKK , @MWJones , @Sayo and @OmerAli for now having an idea in the list of top-voted ideas!
