How to find out the address editor

If any local guide changes a google business page’s address, how can the owner find out that person?

If they intend to harm a business owner by changing a business’ address, how does Google take measures about it?

Hi @mahbubctbd

Welcome to Connect. Nice to meet you!

To make you feel at home I suggest you take a look at Your Guide to Connect (it’s a quick introduction to our community) and feel free to introduce yourself here.

Do you mean the Street address or web address?

Business owners and other local guides can not get or find out who made a certain edit.

This forum is for the volunteer local guides only. Business owners have their own help pages and forum.

Here are the GMB help center and you find the GMB forum here.

The interests as a business owner and a local guide should not be mixed since there can be conflicts of interest.

Cheers

@mahbubctbd Google does checks, both automated and manual, while reviewing submissions.

Yes, there are cases where someone make false edits and got approved, but for most cases the edits need to be really credible before they gets approved. This is the main reason why there are many cases where edits are pending/not approved, because they’re aren’t enough signals that can prove the edits is credible (for more on this you can read this article)

Google is not sharing how these checks are being done because it might get abused by those with bad intentions.

This is where Local Guides can be help by being vigilant and report when they see false edits.

I will answer the only question not covered by @iyudhi and @MortenCopenhagen - the question of privacy, you ask how the business owner can find the person. The answer is they cannot, Google protect your and my privacy strenuously. Google will not reveal the identity of anyone without due legal process.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you. I asked about this on the local guides platform because, in Bangladesh, a lot of local guides do this. A friend of mine faced this same thing. Someone changed his verified address. He didn’t check his mail due to certain reasons, and after a lot of days, he saw that his verified GMB page was unverified.

@iyudhi Thank you.

@PaulPavlinovich Thank you very much.
