How to find a place that doesn't have photos and review?

I’m trying to unlock Novice Trailblazer badge (Award for being the first person to add important info about places). But it hard to find a place that doesn’t have photos and review.

You are correct, @Mohamed60 .

In some places there are not a lot of places missing on Google Maps. In the beginning of my LG career I found that focusing on sculptures were a rich source of un-mapped places in Copenhagen. Another, inspiration is to study the lists of mapable categories. On this link you will find complete lists of categories. Otherwise it helps to walk in business areas regularly and keep an eye out for new businesses. And follow local news where new placed can be presented as they open.

Lastly when walking in dense areas check if all the places you pass are on the map by doing text searches.

I think those are the best tricks in my book. I hope some will help you.

Cheers

I replied above as if you vere looking for new places to add. I see now that you were asking for existing places places with no pics and reviews. Tricks to find them include: look for smaller businesses and scan sidestreets on the map. Single tap the pins and you can see pics and the number of reviews without opening the places’ pages.

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

If you want to accept a reply as the solution to help interested local guides find the best reply, please follow the steps explained in How do I mark comments as solutions?

Hi @Mohamed60

As @MortenCopenhagen said, it really depends of the area. There are areas where everything is already on Maps, and other where a lot of places are missing. Adding a place is probably the best way for also being the first to add the first photo and the first review.

Explore your neighborhood, to see when a new business open. A real goldmine is the opening of a new mall.

But you can also use your app to send you notifications for contributing. In the past the app was suggesting me a lot of photos where photos were missing.

To activate the notification, tap on your Avatar on the top right corner, then on Settings > Notifications > Location and Profile, and switch to ON “new on maps”

Hello @Mohamed60
I am answering your query since you are looking for “How to find a place that doesn’t have photos and review” only.
Otherwise, to unlock the trailblazer badge, you also have to create that many new places.
But, though you have created eleven places, you did not post a photo at one spot and reviews at six locations & that is surprising.

How to find places without a photo is relatively easy on an Android phone.
For that, you have to go through the menu options contribute → Contribute now → uncover missing info.
There you can apply a filter “Photo upload”, and then all the places without any photo will be visible on the map.

To locate places without reviews is somewhat tricky but possible.
For that, you have to set up navigation from your place to any other destination. Once the course is visible, use the option “Search along the route” and go on selecting different categories like “Stores”, “Shops” etc.
The search result will show the ratings of each place, along with the count of occurrences. You will find many places with remarks “No ratings and reviews”. Visit those, avail some service there & then post a review.

Nevertheless, to discover trades which are not yet on Maps, yellow pages can be a source. But, you have to remember one criterion, the business must have a physical address & fixed working hours for dealing with the customers.

How can I recheck which places i added?

Hello @Mohamed60

You can look for that in the “Edits” tab in your profile once you scroll down below published lists. That will show an entry " Approved" “Place creation”.
However, you may have lost the first-mover advantage now if the creation is not recent. Someone else may have already posted photos and reviews at those spots. Nevertheless, you can look for that once again.

First you should on the gps and then you will get your current location. Choose the place carefully on the maps which you want to add to the maps. Then click on the ‘Add the missing place’. After clicking, there will open a new tab where you can fill the basic details and click on ‘Add’ sign.
