How to find a company without an address.

:loud_sound: How to find a company without an address.

Google business makes it possible to create accounts without an address. “No branch, only personal services and delivery”.

:mag_right: The only way to find a company is through organic search, by name.

There is a special kind of businesses called Service Area Businesses. They are unfortunately allowed to hide their addresses.

When I need to check such a Maps listing I often do a Google search AND look up their phone number. Also, business licens numbers can be useful.

It is typically locksmiths, plummers and appliance repair services. They are often fraudulent listings.

Maps users can find them by searching for a locksmith in Google Maps and they will show up as an area if you click on it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Unfortunately, as you clearly indicated on your post, only a business can setup his business to cover an area, instead to be located in a special address.

This function is not available for the Local Guides, and for this reason it is not relevant for the community.

Hello @TatiG

When you know a company name, searching that through the text box becomes the primary source to locate. So the impression regarding the need for an organic search is perplexing.

Further, Maps may not show a pin for many of the POIs thus locating a spot based on an address isn’t an ideal way to explore.

Also, when you are looking for a specific service, then searching for that instead of the company name becomes the right way to look for.
And then the search results would display multiple ways to contact thus removing any need to locate the actual address.
