I need to delete 5 photos from a review I posted some 12 months ago as these photos were uploaded to the wrong POI and of course I want to add these photos to the correct POI review but I cannot see how to easily achieve this. I tried a number of different ways and here are the problems I encountered:
A - On Mobile
If outside of my Contributions I search for the POI, under OVERVIEW or REVIEWS I see my review however only one of the 5 photos I want to delete is shown. However, while under that photo there is an option to Report a problem there is no option to delete it! So I’m stuck!
If I then try the PHOTOS > By you menu option now I see a different set of photos and this time 4 of the 5 photos I want to delete are shown but once again there is no delete option, so again I’m stuck!
I tried to do this from within Your Contributions > REVIEWS however with hundreds of reviews it’s just near impossible and time wasteful to scroll through them all to find the review. However, determined to see if this was the way I scrolled through while watching a 2 hour movie and eventually found the review but only to discover that this time none of my photos for the review were shown!!! I’m stuck yet again!
I next tried Your Contributions > REVIEWS but with thousands of photos this was not a possibility. So again I’m stuck!
With no ability it seems to find and delete the five photos I next tried to do this on desktop!!!
B - On Desktop
If outside of my Contributions I search for the POI, I see my review however only one of the 5 photos I want to delete is shown. However, once again there is no option to delete it! So I’m stuck!
If I select the Photos option there are hundreds of photos for this POI but unlike mobile, there is no Photos > By you option. However, I mouse scrolled down until I found one of my photos but unfortunately, there is no option to delete the photo, so once again I was stuck!
I next tried Your Contributions > REVIEWS but with hundreds of reviews there is no easy way to find the review I’m looking for. Again I’m stuck!

There must be a way to achieve this simply so that the quality and integrity of information on Maps reviews is correct. So can someone please tell me how to achieve - @sonnyNg , @VasT , @ErmesT , @PaulPavlinovich or anyone else?
@AdamGT Try this. I just tried it for some photos years ago, it’s directly possible for me. This is what I have done, but may work for other platforms.
Windows desktop, Chrome browser, Open Google Maps on browser.
Look for the location of issue. Scroll and you should see your review at the top of the stack of other reviews.
Click to Share your review, will open a small window and copy the hyperlink to your review.
Paste your review hyperlink to a new browser window (as long as you are logged into the same account).
The review will open with all the relevant photos to the place. Each photo will have a 3-dot menu with delete option.
I can confirm that this is not working. I have followed these steps to try and help with a solution but for me following these steps also only leaves me with the option to print, report problem, or share.
When I follow the original poster’s directions, again, I get the same results.
I feel like recently I was able to delete photos through this method but I am now unable to.
Thanks for your reply. I tried this and it looked very very promising but unfortunately by your method while some of my photos for this review are displayed, none of the 5 photos that I want to delete are It seems that using your method and the several methods I listed in my initial post, display none or at best some but always different photos. I need to delete the problem 5 photos and add them to the correct review and if I can’t delete them then I will end up with duplicates!!! Any further ideas?
@AdamGT I may suspect if the photos which are not displayed with the review, they could have been made private (ie not public)? I can’t say for sure if that is the case though. The 1 way to verify will be to look through an incognito login for the place.
If it’s already private, then maybe deleting isn’t as critical, although we should still try to do it.
Nothing else comes to mind at the moment, except scrolling which I have done my fair share also.
Unlike yourself, I followed the steps kindly provided by @StephenAbraham and did see some of my photos and in the Photo actions menu (the ellipsis) there is a Delete this photo option but unfortunatley in my case, the photos that I want to delete are not being displayed!
@AdamGT If you would like, I can check for you by looking up the location. You do have quite a lot of photos. I can search for your review and see what I see and I can screen shot them for you. I am not sure if this will help you. But at least I will be able to tell you if they show up or not on my end.
Hey @StephenAbraham thanks for your further reply. Given that at least some of these 5 problem photos do appear at different times it doesn’t sound like to me that they are private! It’ just that not all of them appear and when and where they do there is no dlete option There has to be a way!!!
If the photos that I need to delete were displayed then your method and no doubt that of @StephenAbraham would work however, in my case they are not!!!
I actually was able to see a few photos but as I scrolled down, the page automatically refreshed and then showed me a series of different photos under your review. Honestly, I’ve never seen this where I can’t see all the images in a single place. Why it keeps refreshing with different pictures is quite puzzling. (This.post was copied from a private message between @AdamGT and myself but we both thought it would be important to share this information with the rest who are reading along)
Yes that’s exactly what happens to me @Alotofstuf but unfortunately at any time, I don’t see all the photos that I need to delete and in any event, on this screen there is no option to delete the photo(s).
I followed the steps as suggested by @StephenAbraham, traced review posted in 2017 & then opened that in a new window.
All seven photos were there & the option to delete those was available too.
It appears that the described steps are operating for some accounts selectively.
Just to sum up the situation so far, regarding the review that was to be edited, there would be a set of photos that would be intended to be deleted, correct?
As by checking afterwards, there would be further issues not not having the delete option for the whole set of photos, would the described situation in this reply show any pattern of frequency of having the photos shown and hidden?
Correct, I need to delete a sub-set of the photos on a review.
As noted in my post and by others that have investigated and replied, depending on how you view the review (see post and replies above), none of the sub-set or sometimes some but not all of the sub-set of photos to be deleted are shown on the review. However, if shown, there is never an option to delete the photo(s) shown. Additionally, at different times different photos are shown on the review!!!
I want to add that as far back as March 21, 2018 I have mentioned that I have experienced the problem of reviews with missing photos and refer you to my post Review photos don’t show.
No I am not saying that. As I have stated and also repeated in my reply to @sonnyNg , depending on how you view the review (see my post and replies above), none of the sub-set or sometimes some but never all of the sub-set of photos to be deleted are shown on the review. However, if any are shown shown, there is never an option to delete the photo(s) that are shown. Additionally, at different times different photos are shown on the review!!! I have have to add that some reviews don’t show any photos at all but I know photos were added and I reported this issue way back on March 21, 2018 (see Review photos don’t show). Hope this answers your question.
