I wanted your guidance on the best (anday!) way to request deletion of photos uploaded by another user? The images are of poor quality and upside down -
Is there a way of contacting the user directly? If using the Report a Probem form, how long does this take to action? I filled this in over a week ago now.
Hi @Simon_360 . Iâve removed the links in your post as we respect everyoneâs privacy and ask that you do not post any personal information for Local Guides or yourself in this public forum.
If you find a review or photo that you think violates our policies, you can use the âflag as inappropriateâ icon next to the contribution. A team of specialists will then check if it violates any of our policies (https://goo.gl/dsVNTC, https://goo.gl/G87xzJ) and will take appropriate action. The review sometimes takes time as the team is careful to only remove content that violate policy.
If youâve found a specific Local Guide with activity you think violates Google Mapsâ policies or the Local Guides program rules, let us know here in Connect (but donât share that personâs information publicly) and weâll reach out to you via private message with instructions on how to share that information with the Local Guides team to share with the specialists for review. Please note that weâll never be able to share the specialistsâ decision as we respect everyoneâs privacy.
Thank you for your reply and please accept my apologies - I wasnât aware of the privacy rules here.
Is there any way of speeding up the decision of the flagged photos as it is clear they are violating policy and this user is seems to be doing it frequently.
Are we as Guides able to reach out to others to inform them of this? It may at times be a camera misconfig.
If I can offer a thought, putting myself in the shoes of someone who may be (at least innocently) posting a photo or something incorrectly----
If it is LocalGuide to whom you refer, perhaps if possible making use of the Private message feature and contact the person directly. If the incorrectness is innocently and accidently done, the person may appreciate having a heads-up and opportunity to learn and improve and do better next time. If it were me I know I would immensely appreciate that.
If the action is deliberate and knowingly wrongâwell no harm no foul for going the private route. And it would be more clear that the person has no desire to act appropriately.
If you see an inappropriate /obscure / wrong picture for a place set by another local guide inform Google immediately by clicking the flag mark exist right side and lower portion of your computer / mobile screen.
If you click the flag youâll find some options like (1) Spam (2) wrong place (3) picture isnât clear etc. You can select your option. After reviewing your report Google with remove it automatically.

The way I went about it earlier, I clicked on the small photo/image of the person I want to private message. That brings me to their page and then there is a button that allows sending a private message.
There may be a more direct or quicker way but thatâs what I did.
Hi @Simon_360 . As I noted earlier, if you find a Local Guide who has a lot of content you think is violating our policies, let us know and weâll send you a private message with instructions.
@MarieP You may only private message someone here on Connect (if they have that feature turned on) but it is not enabled on Google Maps. So, if someone happens to have their Google Maps profile link on their Connect profile (as I do), then you could message someone if you wanted to let them know about their image errors, but otherwise, you have to report the imagery per the notes above. If this is a feature youâd like to see, I recommend posting that under âFeedback and Feature Requestsâ here on Connect.
Ahh Thanks @TraciC Something else I have learned now
I was referring only to private message here on Connectâbut I did not even know one has to have that turned on. I just assumed it was always on sheepishly realizing I must not have really looked at the Settings here :).
Hi! I started contributing as Local Guide a few months ago because I love photography and thought it was about time to contribute.
I strive to upload my own best original public pictures for each place I contribute. Based on my total photo views count so far, it is very rewarding to see how many people may have benefited from my effort and this is fueling my future contributions.
I just found out that there is an active Local Guide user that is seriously violating your policies. This user has hundreds (I think it can be thousands) of illegal contributions. I seek your help to stop this terrible and disgusting behavior.
hello @TraciC ,
thank you for your reply, it was really helpful.
I am also facing the same crisis.
I work in a small non profit organisation and somehow a photograph from a universityâs website got linked to our profile, may be because of the words, or tags being the same.
I flagged the image twice from my profile, does my organisation needs to report or call someone to get the photo removed. I am not sure how fast is the process, i think the first time i flagged itâs more than a month.
Hi @aishwaryateeparthi . The way I shared earlier (and what you did) is the proper way to flag a problem with incorrect contributions. Please allow the specialists time to review the case. Thank you.
We did the same on last week, for removing a location photo suggested & uploaded by one of our customers. But still modifications suggested by me are not reflecting. Itâs taking so much time. We are getting continuous feedback for the same from both internal employees and customers. so could you please let me know if there any way to connect with Google Map employees for modifications.
I reported many, I mean MANY pictures since im here years ago and nothing happened.
My friend, the owned of a bar who isnât on my business, asked me how to remove all the wrong picture uploaded by a guy,
i was concerned how to answer since my city itâs full of picture wrong and never fixed.
Recently I have published a tour with multi-level, afterwards, I noticed that somebody has also uploaded a single PANO using Street View app. Now on the Knowledge Card, that PANO is showing as starting front view and which has very poor quality. I tried to Mark as an inappropriate flag but that will take more time to delete from Google end. The client is shouting on me now.

Hi VAugustoV, this will be a serious issue for all the trusted photographers. If someone will later upload a PANO then that will overwrite your existing Street View starting points from the knowledge card as well as from Mobile Map thumbnail. If the business owners are happy with that then there is no call issue. When business owner hire you for high-end photography and then somebody will ruin the images and you have no other option, you can just flag as an inappropriate.
Google should take a serious call on this issue otherwise, after few year, this kind of poor PANOs will be overloaded across Google Street View
For the new business location to replace the one that was in place at the same address, you need to make sure the old listing has closed down. If you are replacing an old business please go to that address on Google Maps and click âSuggest an Editâ and then mark the former business as closed and choose the appropriate option why.
Once its confirmed that the business listing is closed, you will need to recreate the new business at the same address. If the new business is already claimed and you are not the owner, you can have the owners of the business that is claimed assign you as a manager to make changes for them if you are going to be handling this for them.
