How to Create Your Own Calendar.

Some online photo services allow you to create a calendar from your own photos.

There are also various software that make this possible.

These services are usually bound to order a printed version of the calendar for a fee. If you want to print the calendar yourself, or to generate only an electronic version in pdf format, the calendars generated are in low resolution and poor output quality.

A few years ago I encountered this problem and solved it using standard Microsoft office tools - Excel and Word.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. We will prepare photos suitable for each month of the year. Adjust the aspect ratio to about 19/10 using landscape images.

  2. In Microsoft Excel or Google spreadsheets create tables with dates for individual months that will form the bottom of the calendar.

  3. In Microsoft Word or Google Docs we create a new landscape document.

  4. Copy the January table into a Word document.

  5. Copy the January image above the table.

  6. Adjust the table and the picture to fit the edges and fit on one sheet of the document.

  7. We will repeat the proces for the following months until the calendar is finished.

  8. We will save the document in doc. This will be about 50MB, which is not suitable for sharing.

  9. We export the document to pdf format, where we reach a file size of about 7MB, which is suitable for sharing online.

If you want to share a photo’s location, you can generate a QR code with the location and paste it into an Excel spreadsheet.

Hi @KarolT ,

Thanks for sharing with us! : ]

Having such options to adjust your own calendar would give a lot of room for creativity, as you have also shared some already made templates, much appreciated for that!

By the way, I have changed the category of the post to How-tos, as I do think it would be better oriented to the main subject, as letting everyone know how to make goods on their own.

Hi @KarolT ,

It has been a big project of yours, much appreciated for sharing with us!

I think it would be really neat if the location names would be put into each calendar page, in a way like a post card. : ]

Nice idea. @sonnyNg

@KarolT Besides QR code, it would be nice to add a caption telling the location of the photo.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi I mean QR code with location.

You just scan it and show you a place in Gmaps.
