Hi @TravellerG I applaud the idea of making video tutorials but not document based material. The system changes often, it is always better to point people to the official support information (in this topic) https://support.google.com/maps/answer/7280933 which is kept in sync with the product usually being updated about the same time that the product changes behaviour. The support articles are written by well skilled technical writers/trainers who understand the nuances of producing guidance documentation that caters to different learning needs.

Even with the video tutorials you need to come back to it periodically and validate that it is still current (or at least “near enough”). Always include a link with your video to the official material.

The reason why I think videos are ok over documents is because the end user can measure the appearance and behaviour of the App they’re using with what you shared and they can easily see that it is now different. This is much harder to do from textual directions.

The final reason is the metadata that might be unintentionally collected, for example when I opened your DropBox link, DropBox collects my IP, browser meta data and other information such as tracking cookies. It also dumps a plethora of tracking cookies onto my machine which other sites will look for. If you’re going to make material for Local Guides I would strongly advise staying within the Google ecosystem (e.g. use Drive) as at least when they collect metadata its staying within the same organisation. Note I’m not saying Drop Box is bad - they’re fine, but there are certainly other available choices which are very much bad.

Regards Paul

Silly question, what is the purpose of making your lists public? Can people search for them? If yes, how would I search for a list someone might have made eg driving tour of Belgian Trappist monk breweries?
