how to classify housing and mortgage counselors?

I recently bought real estate, and included in the paperwork was a list of (U.S.) government approved housing counseling agencies. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, they “provide counseling to consumers on seeking, financing, maintaining, renting, or owning a home. The program also addresses homelessness through counseling and assists homeowners in need of foreclosure assistance.”

My question is, if I were to classify one of these organizations in Maps, what would they be called? Counselor would imply a therapist so I don’t want to use that category. Is Maps’ non-profit organization too broad?

Hello @kingofcyberia ,

In addition to the helpful information about categories on Google Maps, I would like to remind that there are certain items that can not be added to the maps.

Please refer to the following article that might be helpful- Places you can’t add to the map.

@kingofcyberia based on your description, I would say ‘Real estate consultant’ sounds like the best option.

For more rental-related services, agencies often fall under Real Estate Rental Agency, depending on their scope. Non-Profit Organization can sometimes feel too broad, but it’s still valid if they focus on housing assistance programs.

For property management needs specifically, Kingston Property Management companies handle listings for rentals and student housing while also supporting landlords with managing their properties.
