How to change wrong map marker / boundary

Dear Experts,

I have been trying to update the wrongly marked map ( marker / boundary ) of my colony/ward/area.

So some naughty guy have marked the large area as Raza Nagar ( Raza seems to be his name). Apparently , there is no area like Raza Nagar.

Now whenever, we add any missing place this Raza Nagar automatically comes in between address.

Question?

  • How to change or edit the wrongly marked marker on map?

  • I have tried 100 times to change but not approved

  • I have sent many feedback’s to Google with government documents evidence , no response

  • Twitter direct message no response

Help -

  • What is the right way to change a wrongly created boundary or marker ?

Hi @piyushprakashpp

Thanks for asking. You have done a great job so far.

First you need to make sure that the area is not official and maybe a correct historical area that you just don’t know about.

The best solution is probably that you reach out to your local government/Municipality and try to find the person responsible for transferring updated map data to Google. And ask him/her to fix the problem.

If you want more help here you need to share a link to the area, please.

Also please share copies of the documents etc you previously sent as attachments to the feedback you submitted on this issue.

Is there another local area name that is missing or should it just be deleted?

This sounds like a good example for why local guides should not be able to edit areas on the map!

Cheers

Morten

Hello @piyushprakashpp

I suggest you add a screenshot of your “send feedback” message, link to government document & then tag a Google moderator. That will help in expediting the correction.

Thank you for your quick response. I was not expecting this faster response and that too with detailed.

  • This area is not at all exists.

  • This location people have not become more technical Madhubani, Bihar India

  • They have started adding places now, so some notorious guy has marked on his name

  • Raza ( In India its a pet name ) and he marked on his name

  • Now when I realized this I tried to update, I have been trying for the last 2 years

  • Send 100+ feedbacks, every time either Rejected or Pending

  • I am basically a Software Engineer and started my own business in this location

  • But the location address has become issues now.

  • This entire area is known as Hanuman Bagh Colony

  • I have given many government documents for confirmation

  • There is no place called Raza Nagar or Mangalbani

  • Have submitted my Voter id, Passport, Driving Licence to show

  • I am a local guy and staying in this location for 21 years now.

Please help me to get this sorted. I am not sure how to reach to the government for this google map issue. Local government will be least interested to correct this. In fact, they have less idea on these google map and marker. Sad but true.

Updates to - Hanuman Bagh Colony, Madhubani, Bihar, India

Q- Is there another local area name that is missing or should it just be deleted?
A - All local area name are added just randomly, many of them are correct though. My concern is more specific to Raza Nagar & Mangalbani.
Area URL shared above. Both names should change to Hanuman Bagh Colony

Q- Also please share copies of the documents etc you previously sent as attachments to the feedback you submitted on this issue.

A- Shared

Q- The best solution is probably that you reach out to your local government/Municipality and try to find the person responsible for transferring updated map data to Google. And ask him/her to fix the problem.

A- Doesn’t seem to be a feasible solution as of now in COVID situation and moreover local government is least bother about their google map location and my custom request. It will take ages.

Looking forward to positive help from your experts. I know I have come here a little late. I should have come here long ago. But its never too late.

Thanks and Regards

Thank you for your response. Can you elaborate on how to add a moderator in the feedback section? Any steps or documents can you share.

Not heard anything from you. Please help.

Dear @piyushprakashpp

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

No tagging = no reply

Hi @piyushprakashpp

I have now read your detailed reply.

First, I would like you to remove links to your personal ID etc. It is not needed and should never be shared here. Just edit your post and delete those details.

By documents we don’t mean your personal ID but preferably official documents proving that your suggested edit is correct.

Then you need to be a bit more precise in your terminology. Pin/marker/place are words referring to a point on the map. Areas are don’t have a pin. In your details your mix them up here and there.

In one of your screenshots I saw roads you tried to fix. Roads are also “areas”. And they also need feedback and not suggest edits.

Roads and areas can not be claimed. And Local guides can only provide feedback and not suggest edits to areas.

I also noticed that there is more than one area that needs to be removed.

You need to select one thing at a time and not mix them up in the same threads and edits and feedback submissions.

Because of this mix up it is not super clear to me what area should be deleted and if they should just be gone or replaced. Think of it this way: is the polygon of value and should be keept. If removed are other corrections needed to other areas?

Please use these inputs to make a new reply in this thread with only one piece of feedback you need help with.

Then later you can use your new experience to fix other problems.

Cheers

Morten

Thanks for the detailed reply @piyushprakashpp

Use of tagging tool is a must to draw attention.

Further, as suggested, you must remove all sensitive personal information from your replies.

For any official reference, our governments follow the maps of Survey of India. Can you locate any of those maps & then identify the name of locality? or can you get a pic of post office in your region which displays the place name correctly?

Nevertheless, I find there is a region named Raj nagar in the Madhubani district. Is it so that Raj nagar has now become Raza nagar on Maps?

Meanwhile, have you used the “Send feedback” --. “Your opinion about Maps” route to register your request for the required change?
