How to add post through mobile brower

Through this post I can show you how to add post through mobile brower effectively. Most local guides shows [ me as well ] great difficult to publish a post through mobile. After some years of experiences, I can show you how to add post through mobile without much effort.

Note : it might not be easy as doing it in desktop / computer.

  • Firstly Open Your Chrome Brower And Enter Into Local Guide Connect Page

  • Click On The Three Dots On The Top Right Corner And Tap On The Square Button Next To The Desktop Site.

  • This Will Take You To The Desktop Version Of The Page.

  • Scroll Down Bottom Of The Page And Click On " Start A Post "

  • From Above Page, Here You Can Edit Your Post.

NOTE [ FOR MAKING IT EASIER ]

  1. Try to type in all text in beginning with space given to add images / url / highlets in the end which will be more easier.
  2. You may not have emoji section, but you can choose your emoji through keyboard you using.
  3. You can’t custom adjust your images [ adjust your images before you upload it ].
  4. Try to open two or three tabs in your brower which may come in handy as to search local guide’s username or relevant data from local guide connect or web.
  5. Try to have a mental image of how your post is going to be as it would be less time consuming.
  6. As you be using mobile keyboard, you can make your text autocorrect / suggestion words in your keyboard.

This is all I experiences I came across from years in local guide connect. If I miss something, feel free to add it on the comment and I will re-edit in the post.

Hi @Rahul001

Thanks for sharing.

Why do you recommend using desktop version? The text become super small and the pages are difficult to navigate on a small screen.

I just use normal mobile mode. The only drawback I see is the fact that captions under photos can only be added and edited on desktop.

When writing more elaborate posts with several illustrations I recommend not using the Connect editor but Google Docs which is more reliable.

All the best

Yes @MortenCopenhagen you are correct about the difficulty of navigating on desktop mode but after one or more post, you get hold of it. For me normal mode was difficult because of small editing space. Google docs is also reliable when having lot of illustrations.

Fully agree with @MortenCopenhagen .

Me too, @Rahul001 , I prefer to use Google Docs for writing my posts.

If I have to use the mobile I don’t like to switch to the desktop mode, so I am used to write directly on the mobile version of Connect. After posting I edit the post on desktop mode for changing the size of the images and to add the captions in them.

I am also surprised about your cover photo. Do you use an external keyboard and mouse to write a post on mobile?

Very Good efforts @Rahul001

Well, not really, @Annaelisa

Of course we can add a text under the photo. I do this too when I embed a photo.

But the caption is an attribute of the photo, and can be done on desktop only

Thanks for the tips @Rahul001

@ErmesT

Dann gibt es unterschiedliche Versionen der Unterschrift und die genannte kenne ich dann nicht.

@ErmesT

Muss ich mir das so vorstellen, dass das Bild selber beschrieben wird?

Thank you @ErmesT for replying. I actually doesn’t use external keyboard or mouse for mobile editing. I used mobile version for my first meet-up and posts, so I get to know how to use it effectively and less time consuming.

Yes @Annaelisa

The scope of a caption, is to help visually impaired people to understand what a photo is showing. They can’t see our photo, but thanks to the caption they will understand why we posted that photo.

A Caption is what every Googler does when you write a post here in Connect: an accurate description of the photo.

The “caption” is identified by a screen reader exactly for what it is, because the HTML source gives to the caption some specific attribute attached to the photo.

In Connect to add a real Caption you [unfortunately] need to use an editor that is available only on Desktop mode.

When we write a post on desktop and we select an image, the photo’s menu is popping up like this

When you select “Edit Image” the Image editor will open. As you can see under the photo is the area where we can write a caption

The caption is stored in the photo itself, so if I choose to use the same photo again (yes, this is another function available on Desktop only) the caption will appear also in the new post where I use it.

Of course, @Rahul001 , this is exactly what I thought. This is also why I’m confused by your cover photo, where you show a keyboard that has nothing to do with the content of your post

Yes @ErmesT . It definitely has nothing to do with the post. The photo reflects typing and editing only.

Danke für die Erklärung und für die gedachten Zwecke sicher sehr hilfreich und zu begrüßen.

Ich persönlich mag es nicht, mich stört schon wenn auf dem Foto das Datum erscheint.
