How to add a 'Point of Interest' to Google Maps?

Since some categories (e.g. round-about, rotary etc) are not included in the drop-down/list, I am told I may mention these places as ‘Point of Interest’

How do we add a ‘Point of Interest’, please guide.

Thanks

@spsood Seems these are the categories many local guides are looking for. But unfortunately there no category for these. And that means Google Maps doesn’t want these to be marked on maps. So we have nothing to do except waiting for a suitable category is added.

hi @SaifIS

I guess if the category that we wish to mention is not available in the predefined list then we can go ahead by mentioning it as ‘Point of Interest’

But how to mention it as a ‘Point of Interest’ - is the guidance I am looking for.

@spsood You are right. But there is also no option available for Point of Interest. As far as I can recall this option was available in Map Maker.

Point of Interest (aka POI) is not a category, but the general definition that is used to define every place that can be added on Google Maps.

In the past it was also used in Map Maker as a placeholder for adding a category in a next step, but in any case cannot be used as a category.

If you have a suggestion about new categories, you can write it on Idea exchange

@ErmesT I know that every place is a POI. But couldn’t recall what you said about Map Maker. Thank you so much for the information.

can u help me with marking ‘point of interest’ on map.

Hi @spsood

As I already said, Point Of Interest is not a category, but simply a definition for every Listing on Google Maps.
