How text emoticons are interpreted (or not) :D

Dear community,
wanna share some fun stuff respectively some best practice concerning the forum itself, bc some text emoticons are interpreted to graphical emoticons, and you can use that effect in creating titles of a thread.

So this is my little collection so far

hm.. so  didnt work in the title..
but :expressionless: does

EDIT:

side effect: enclosure with _ (underline) makes the smiley bigger

I always use text-based emojis when writing posts
Since I mostly use a physical keyboard on a desktop computer.

But the single-letter codes are nice tips @makky
I greatly appreciate it :+1:

Also, I have observed the difference in the way an emoji works in the title and the message. They are not the same. So I just usually copy-paste the emoji code into the title.

yeah, an emoji in the title works best with using the :code, that’s my conclusion too

PS: other emojis you get by start writing the : and followed by the beginning letter, like :fish.. gives :fish:

Did you also know, we are limited to only 2 emojis in the title @makky?

This is indeed a good limitation, since local guides tend to put too many in the title, making it look ugly

no problem to me, I never exceed that limit anyway

btw to save data space I usually reduce PNG-screenshots to 8-bit (256 colors), sometimes 7-bit (128 colors) – I use XnView, also included some basic edit functions like Copy-Paste and Text-insert, really great tool :winking_face_with_tongue:
