‘Number of times displayed’ is probably a better way of interpreting it. Because - unless the entire online population gets a ‘Google Glass’-ish device and always has it on and sending data back - how can one ever determine whether or not a review was actually seen, let alone read?
And since the views counters for pictures include your own views (e.g. when scrolling through them yourself) - a fact confirmed to me by a Google moderator - it is probable that your own views also count in case of reviews.
