How reliable are the frequency charts?

Unfortunately it’s very common that claimed businesses are misplaced and cannot be edited properly by regular users. So I wonder how reliable are these frequency charts. (Beside other problems)

At the given example the current position of Starbucks is rather that of Burger King, whereas the latter is claimed and misplaced aswell o_O

Btw, these businesses don’t follow the policies: Starbucks uses capital letters at the address, Burger King mentions the address in the title…

I believe the busy data are derived from location data collected by Google from Maps users devices.

I would trust them more that if the business owners could change these to attract more customers at quiet hours.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen of course these charts are generated with user data, so how want they assign the data to a position that is unknown/not correct?

I guess if the pin location is off, then the data will also be off.

Sorry, if I missed the point.

@MortenCopenhagen so you would agree that for this reason it would make sense to add “position” to the respective menu at the business redressal form ?

I don’t know. For different reasons : Often the redressal form is not super effective. So why bother.

You may want to try getting help in the Maps support forum first.

Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post.

I would think that the Business Profile program would not consider a wrong location to be malicious but a simple mistake.

Lastly, it could be that the busy data are generated for groups of stores and not the individual small store. So maybe it is not very much off.

Lastly, you could try reaching out to the store / chain of stores and suggest they fix the issue.

Finally, keep in mind that the pin location is also influenced by the selected address.

I’m not against your idea to add pin location to the redressal form. I’m just not in a position to understand the history and purpose of the redressal form in the Business Profile program to answer any better than the above.
