I spent 12 weeks in Rochester, MN for an internship at the Mayo Clinic - I took this opportunity to put my life back home in Kansas City on hold and try and live as fullest - experiencing as much as a new area of the country could have to offer. It was beautiful there during the summer months and I was happy to have lively peers living with and around me that were just as excited to explore. I actually had to get a new phone just before leaving and I wanted to try Android (Apple before and after) and with the new phone was an easy to set-up with all my Google Photos, Fit, Maps, and eventually Pokemon-Go which encouraged long walks and new adventures - all synchronized and integrated. I soon discovered my passion for capturing photos and editing them in the cloud that allowed me to share a stunning photo for local businesses and trips. One trip east to the Mississippi River ended with a break at local coffee shop that required a quick snap of friends sharing a happy moment. Years later that photo added to the local business Maps page has over half a million views. In fact, more than a million views were collected from restaurants, hikes, movie theaters, coffee shops, and tourist areas that I visited. Coming back to Kansas City I saw new ways to support businesses and share the beauty that future visitors could experience while making plans or businesses could use to share their story. I haven’t lived that freely since and have drifted away from continually snapping new photos. I am hoping this year that I can invigorate that passion for documenting beauty - even if it is in my backyard.
