The most interesting thing I have done as a Local Guide is exploring new places, especially those not yet present or reviewed on Maps. Thanks to this program I started to share my experiences with the world and to improve 360° photography, I started looking for places where spherical photos were missing to allow everyone to have a complete view of those places, that before they did not have or had few photos, not enough to dive into the place and see it almost as if you were there, updated with all the useful information. So I started looking for places near and far where there was a need for someone to upload content, to make those places visible to everyone, and those who do a search have the opportunity to get a real idea of what they are going to find.
I realized that in my little town there were many places not present on Maps, so I immediately started adding them and today they have achieved many views, one of these is the Villa Borghese where, every year, they have a unique medieval festival called "Il Palio delle Contrade ”, other interesting places that I added from here are natural places such as the sinkholes and the Karst cave, which were subjects of my degree thesis in Environmental Sciences whose aim was precisely to bring to the knowledge of all these forms of the territory, and since I added them on Maps, anyone who is curious can reach them or search for them on the web and find a match.
Even in my travels my work as a Local Guide never stops. In Cuba, for example, there were many missing places and so I added many new ones including beautiful beaches that were not signposted but that was showed to us by a very nice local that gave us a map where there were marked all the missing beaches on Maps, I also added some particular houses where I have been so that those kindly people can reach a wider audience.
In the Dominican Republic instead I wrote a comment on how to reach the Alto de Chavon by the river and many people liked my advice because it helped them find an alternative and more natural path to reach it. Every time I received a new like I am happy that my opinion has been appreciated and is useful for those looking for the same things that I am looking for when I inquire about my travels.
Also thanks to the questions, those who have already been can give them concrete help to those looking for answers, so that we can share our information and give a complete guide of each place, and it has been very useful to me in Panama recently.
Google Maps is my window on the world and I really like being there looking for the places that intrigue me and attract me the most. Sometimes I spend hours traveling with the mind through the content in Maps and being part of it makes me proud because I, in my own small way, contribute to this mapping of the world too.
I love to explore and thanks to Google my desire only grows, I dream to go to places where information is missing to complete this giant puzzle where each of us does his part to show the world to those who are curious or seek advice; and every person who sees my photos or a places added by me, makes me happy because it means that my work has been useful.
