You will find the answer to your query in several posts. You will find answers to most of the general questions.
You can use the search box at the top & make any query.
Nevertheless, in my opinion, it’s not essential to know “How many local guides are there”.
Significant would be what one contributes in a consistent & trustworthy manner for helping the community.
How can we get an answer to that? Surely, you will discover information on that also through search box & further by studying the Maps profile.

Do you know if the 120 millions include mapusers who just reviewed a few places or uploaded a few pics without signing up as a local guide here on Connect? I’m having a hard time believing we are 120.000.000 users on Connect.
Do you know the exact definition leading to 120 millions?
Joining the Local Guides program
and joining Local Guides Connect, are two different things, @MortenCopenhagen
And you don’t need to be a Local Guide to contribute in Maps.
There are users who are not Local Guides, and there are Local Guides who never joined Connect. 120 million is the Number of Local Guides around the world, my estimation is that a bit more than 1% are in Connect (Mostly not active in the community)

The Registered Local Guides on Connect are Around 1.3 Million.
And 120 Millions Local Guides are all around the world.
That’s the difference.
I know this because once a time @ErmesT give me this Details.
And Absolutely agree with you.
I think Active Local Guides are Very Less compare to this high amount of Local Guides.
