To be honest, I might not be the perfect Local guide who post perfect shot with insight review and diligent to edit new spots or correct info. However, I am a 100% addict of google map and Local guide, I am really not sure about how to tell those terms. Though I just can’t live without it and because of it I became a local guide. I start adding post when I was aboard and had no idea where to go or what to eat. Sadly, not many reviews around there, so I have started posting. I also see it as my return to google map.
Back to why I am an addict? Reading the reviews is a must before I go anywhere. I had not only one bad experience of visiting new restaurant or spot suggested by bloggers who might get paid and didn’t check the local guide reviews, in the end felt being lied and disappointed. That’s the value of local guide, reviews are not based on ad fee but willing.
One time in my family dinner gathering, my second brother took five min to took the photo of the restaurant. “what? are you a blogger now? do they pay you? why do you care about the quality so much?” I asked. “No, just post on google map” he reposed. “which stage are you now?” I asked. “8”. “Me too.” said my oldest brother. Both my brothers are serious local guides! After that I found out several of my colleagues are also local guides hidden around me who I would never tell from appearance he or she is secretly reviewing as a local guide in years and being it for different interesting reasons.
For fun, for not thing, for taking notes of where I have been, for complaining the service, for sharing beautiful photo, for remind me what my girlfriend likes, for proving existing, for being wired, for confusing the world…For me, I just want to share my thought. Because of different reasons, we don’t discuss much. Being a local guide for three year, I would grade myself 6/10, 5 points for being objective on reviewing and one point for taking photos. How long and what’s your reason to be a local guide? And how will you great yourself?
