As an individual I have been using Google maps for quite sometime now. After being introduced to the concept of Google Local Guide by one of my friends, I started writing reviews of the places I used to go, whether it was for travel or vacation (outside my city), a dinner with family / friends or shopping in a local market / mall.
After writing reviews and posting pictures I realised the real power of the concept of #letsguide and #localguides - that google maps, according to me, is the only platform which enables us (as users) to discover local establishments of ALL categories and varieties.
I now, not only write reviews, but also take an effort to furnish extra details about the place, in terms of their phone no, website, opening and closing hours etc. I started this, when one day I realised that as an individual; to search about anything, be it a resort or a hospital or a salon or even a local grocery shop; I goto Google to search for the product/service and the details related to it! And if the details are incorrect or not there, just like me anyone else can get stuck.
I have added new places as well in the last few months; which according to me is another big task Google has bestowed upon the Local Guides. Places like local cafe’s which are newly opened and thus not been marked by search engines or marking the correct location of the local shops or even editing the smaller of the information like the phone number is something which I truly enjoy doing on Google Maps.
Thank you Google for giving this power to every individual across the globe and helping us shape the world through an unbiased lens!
