Now, in 2020, there will always be a point in each one of our life where we say, ‘if this wouldnt have been in Google Maps’. People in India atleast will say for themselves twice a day.
The story is of 2016, when I was new to Google Maps. I only used Google Maps as navigation and ignored every prompts that Google sent such as, rate the place, add pictures, answer few questions about the place that you’ve recently visited and so on. One day I was in Goa with my friends, it was my first trip to Goa. Late at midnight, one of my friends started having period cramps so I was supposed to go to pharmacy and get pills for her. I put on G Maps and went according to the directions, but unfortunately the place had no 24*7 pharmacy. Then I somehow managed to get pills by asking people around. When I came back and situation was chill, I rethought what mistake I had made previously with all the Google prompts and notifications. That was the day when I started contributing to G Maps and became active member of Local Guide Program. I started with reporting the timings of the pharmacy.
So, this is just an example of how a Local Guides can be useful at emergency situations like this.
