I could say I am not a regular kind of “local” nor a regular kind of “guide” on Google Maps. I have been traveling and living all along Latin America for years and the result, due to my way of traveling, has been to feel and act “local” at every single place I´ve visited.
My purpose on Google Maps, more than to generate stars for private and public establishments, has been to try to show the nature of each place, without using positive or negative judgments, but encouraging travelers and tourists to visit less popularized villages, as well as to reinvent the way people visit the touristic places, because its true nature shows itself only when it´s known through the skin of a real local.
The best thing I´ve learned by traveling like a backpacker is that you don´t have to be one to travel or live like one. The only reason I share my experiences is because I gave myself the time and opportunity to do it this way and want to encourage others to follow a more conscious and sustainable way to do tourism, which is not only about taking photos and buying souveniers.
