How I met Mahatma Gandhi through my father - TravellerG

Hello dear friends,

Today is the 75th Independence Day of India. I salute our National Flag & I humbly submit my Pranams to all the freedom fighters.

My father (who was also a freedom fighter) used to narrate about Mahatma Gandhi to me at a young age - his vivid narrations and explanations brought Gandhi Ji to my mind; that is how I met Gandhi Ji.

It is an interesting fact that my parents used to communicate in Hindi between them, who were also Sanskrit scholars. My father’s fluent Hindi became very useful when he met Bapuji (another affectionate name of Mahatma Gandhi) in a public meeting in Travancore (should be in 1937), my father greeted and spoke to him in Hindi - this made their relationship very close.

My father used to narrate different scenes and stories to me which influenced me a lot. Being kind, honest, helpful and polite are some of these qualities, which I still practice.

And, after the grand meet-up in Ahmedabad (July 10 2022), the very next day, our loving Naresh Ji & Tejal took us (me & my wife) to Sabarmati Ashram. While walking in the Ashram, I could feel & enjoy the different stories my father shared. (thanks a ton, dear Naresh Ji and Tejal for your wonderful companionship).

Even today, remembering the Father of our Nation brings those scenes of my father introducing me to Mahatma Gandhi. I felt very happy to capture the photo where I am sitting very next to him.

Assalamualaikum

Sir Jee,

This post is an opportunity to know about your supportive nature and kind attitude as you are a beautiful soul . You have got this as an inheritance from your ideal father. Salute to all those who contributed to freedom including your father on this national festival and may God give strength to all of us with values to keep this freedom alive. Mahatma Gandhi found the support of all the countrymen by following the path of non-violence and made us to have the nectar of freedom from the clutches of the British. Wants to visit Sabarmati Ashram and Gandhi Smriti Dehli again and again where it seems that we are with Bapu.

Happy Independence day :bouquet:

As a doctor, my father has done a lot of charitable work and he was also the Panchayat Head for long time.

Thanks for your kind words and valuable support.

Though my father left us in 1985 whatever I’m today is because of him and my mother.

Once again thanks for your involvement and sincere gesture.

Most politely
