I love Google Maps. I have been using it for over 7 years now and it has saved me more than a few times when I didn’t know how to get to a place. I have discovered amazing restaurants, clubs and nature sights by using Google Maps.
Four years ago I started realizing how important the local guides are, because thanks to them I have had all this information on Maps. So i decided to contribute myself and started sharing my opinions of a restaurant, hairsalon, attraction etc. I uploaded photos of places which I really loved. Especially the village where we have a guest house and where there are so many tourist attractions. Yagodina, my village, is a place full of magic and wherever you point the camera, you will capture some amazing photos. I uploaded many photos and videos from Yagodina and other places I traveled. I received an email from Google every now and then telling me how many views my photos got and how valuable my sharing has been to other people. This motivated me to share even more. For the last year and a half I have been actively sharing and contributing to Google Maps.
My favorite thing to do is add a small business like a small restaurant, guest house, hair salon etc. There are many people who don’t know that they can use Google Maps to help customers discover their business. So I talk to them and I offer to add their place on Maps. I explain them that this is helping people looking for their product or service to find what they need. I tell them they can get reviews and improve their business by seeing what customers think. I love doing that. And business owners love me for doing that. I have see so many smiles of my new friends who have discovered how having their business on Google Maps has improved their work. They have been getting more clients.
I have also added more than a few natural and tourist attractions, which have been discovered by people and they have left great reviews about them. If it wasn’t Google Maps these places would have never been seen by tourists. As a whole it has been a win-win-win situation for everyone. I will continue doing this, because it is something meaningful which helps people discover the world.
