Hello Everyone,
Being a Local Guide means much more than getting perks and other interesting benefits to me. I have no other way to describe how fortunate I am by discovering Google Maps of which at that time I did not know of anything called Local Guides.
My journey started when I was in India for studies back in 2013. I had to move around places especially as I joined the Bangalore Expat Club. We were required to meet up at different locations almost every week. I knew nobody at that time and found a loyal friend with Google Maps. Everything was just falling in places each time I searched the with the map… The very important information as I needed was available and the sweetest part were the reviews and pictures other people have posted. Kudos to all Indians! They give very detailed details including how much to expect spending if you intend visiting a restaurant and other relevant information. My life was saved!
I then became like I had super powers among my peers, I was the go to guy for accurate directions and feedback.
Coming back to my country; Nigeria, I knew I had an exciting task to do, I began reviewing places with detailed information that will be very useful to everyone. I saw that there are even more features like adding new places, editing places and others. It was just fun for me, still with the purpose of at least affecting someone’s life positively with the power of my contribution.
It excites me more to see this wonderful global program grow to fulfill its vision. It gave me an experience I will never forget and I am always willing to share more details of how truly essential it is to always post true and relevant reviews of places we visit… you never know who’s life we might be saving.
Finally, I will love to meet Local Guides from all over the world at the Connect Live 2020, hear their stories as well as share ideas and collaborate with each other and also grow meaningful network. It is my pleasure to thank all who are behind this world class initiative and other Local Guide member who understands the usefulness of being a Local Guide.
*My life truly has been transformed by this program and I effortlessly share to others how they can be of good use by contributing their unique experience when they visit places not minding is they climb/move faster than me on the level indicator.
