Once I was lost in a new city and wanted to find out nearby eateries. I looked into google maps and found useful reviews of nearby places. It was quite helpful for me to decide and select that one place which suits my needs (the cost, ambience, kind of food I was looking for).
I went inside the restaurant ordered my food and while waiting for my food, I started more reviews. I realised that these reviews are written by none other than people like us, who have visited the place and went ahead to review the place for others to be benefited.
I quickly logged in to my google account and went to google maps to find out places I have visited recently, so that I may put my comments on them which can eventually help others in need. Soon my food arrived. I clicked few photos and quickly uploaded them with my comments on what item I liked best from the menu.
Sooner than later, it became a habit for me to update photos of the place I visit and write my review on them.
Its not just food now, I went on to write about historical places, hospitals and medical stores, that road side grocery, flower shop, cake joint, parks, bus stop and timings of the peak hour traffic; each day the list grew.
I noticed that I am being rewarded with points, badges, followed by stars from google for my contribution.
Its been few years now, and I am at level seven Local guide. It feels still so good to learn from other’s updates, to keep contributing to google, giving back my contribution to the community and mutually helping each other! It reminds me being like Amelie (from the french movie bearing the same title), who finds joy by contributing to the society.
