This is not an achievement post mind you, neither is it an altogether new method, it is How-to-get-rid-of-that-annoying-0-for-Roads-added @JanVanHaver did a good job as far as adding roads on the map is concerned. Thank you for that post Jan. It was an eye opener and it aroused my interest when it comes to adding roads on the maps. I eventually got rid of the “0” behind my added road. Am quite happy to have 3 digits in place of a “0”. It’s amazing to note how many local guide have added road “0” on their profiles. Some moderators do too !!! This posts are for you. Feel free to ask further questions in the commets or assistance, I know how difficult it can be to get started on this.
Now besides Jan’s Methodolodgy, with time and practise, I have also developed my own methods of "scavenging" and “drawing” the roads and that’s the main objective of this post. You’ll need the patience of a fisherman at sea to get the approvals. I have drawn a few hundreds roads,but only a hundred got verified, approved and added to the maps. The approval, and even before the counts is shown on your profile, please be patient as it takes time but it comes eventually.
- One short coming of this “My Method” is that unless you are very intelligent,it’s difficult to earmark what roads you have drawn previously. Thus there might be the error of drawing the same road twice if you are not vigilant. So please bear that in mind.
- I try to overcome that short coming by searching in a new area each time am looking to draw a new road.
Now having said that, I still follow the normal produre as outlined in this article on How to add roads. Just the step by step of how I got mine done. Maybe some of you have better methods, please share with us and thanks in advanced.
Pandemic friendly activity -add roads
- Adding roads is a very pandemic friendly LG activity, because you don’t need to go out there like other activities requires. For instance, you shouldn’t be reviewing a shop you haven’t patronised in person.
- You’ll need to get to a place if you want to take the photos or video to add to the maps.
- To take a 360° photo for those with the SVTP badges(kudos) you need to be on the field to do all these. What do you do then if there is a lockdown order as it has been and still is in many parts of the world; stay indoors but not idle- Try adding roads !!!
The first thing I do, I zoom closer into the areas on the maps and then I search for new roads as shown below.
Spotting or identifying them can take a while really, but once found follow the prompts on the screen;
