Being a Local Guides is all so new for me. 4 years ago I have ever rated one place, then I did not know how these all work. Then 6 months ago, I started to get myself active again since google maps always send me a notification about the place that I have visited to be rated. I got attached to it, then I rate most of the places that I have ever visited.
Last year was the very first time for me to attend Nusantara Food Crawl (Batu Local Guides Meet up Regional) that supported by Google. The meeting was attended by numerous people and there are other Local Guides from another city come along, in the range of young to old ages. I met new people. I talked and had a nice conversation with them all. We were divided into a few groups with 8 to 10 members in every group for Photowalk sessions, and everyone eagerly took a picture in every beautiful corner. As the new member of Local Guides, I braved myself to stand in front of them all in a sharing session. I told my story about how could I know Google Local Guides, and how could I got an invitation from Google about this Local Guides Meeting event. Two more people did the same as I did because we were a newbie in this Local Guides.
Local Guides program is mean so much for me. I could track wherever I have visited with it, and I could make it as my personal diary in detail. This is the most interesting part for me. I could re-open my places and then recalling my memories. When in the past many years I write a diary and printed my photograph to be posted, today I have Google Local Guides! On the same hand, I am able to share about the place, such a slight information with some pictures that will give a view to the people that will visit the place. Helping people through Local Guides was like a kill two birds with one stone. It saves my footprints, and it helps other people to find new places. Just like I do before I go to the new place, I open google maps first if there is something I should ask for, I just drop my question in there, Local Guides will answer it rightly. The interaction between Local Guides is exceptionally interesting. I eagerly say that I am proud to be a part of Google Local Guides. I hope in the future, I will make another numerous contributions to help other people.
