How I discovered myself as a photographer using Local Guides (and some tips).

When I started my first contributions to Local Guides, I did it in an unpretentious way. Some photos automatically saved on my smartphone were the ones I sent.
I once visited a beach near my city (Praia da Vila/Imbituba) and for some reason I was very inspired that day. I took some amazing photos (which I only realized afterwards how good they were) and, of course, I sent them automatically.
After these posts, I was impressed with the number of views and realized how much attention in some photos can make all the difference.

I’m not a professional photographer (very far from that, actually  ), but if we look at some lighting tips, positioning and, mainly, putting ourselves in the place of who would see the photo being taken, it can make a lot of difference and, consequently, this photo you’re likely to have more views.
First, set up your smartphone to the best resolution you have. Sometimes the photo may look good on your phone, but not on your computer screen.
Another perception that I had is the importance of light. Enjoy sunny days to go to walk and taking impressive pictures. The equation is simple: more light = more quality. So you’re going to look to your photos and think “did I do it myself?” (that’s exactly what I thought :joy: ).
In addition to these technical questions, when you arrive in a new location, be sure to put yourself in the shoes of people and ask yourself: what people who have never been here, but are interested, would you like to see?
Photo editing is also a point that needs attention. Many smartphones have automatic edits that correct some horizon and lighting flaws and, believe me, that counts a lot!
Gradually I got the hang of it and liked it. Despite these tips, don’t forget that photography is an art, don’t be bound by the rules. If it’s good for you, it matters.
So, this was the most interesting thing I did as a local guide: I became a photographer in my own way. Try it yourself!!
