I can’t quite remember when’s the exact time I started to share and rate each location I’ve been on Google Maps. At first, I thought it was rather irritating since that Google will literally asked me every question on everywhere I’ve been. Why do I bother?
Not until I found that as long as one reaches certain level of “expertise” he/she can be offered a perk of having free Google drive space around 500G (maybe around that amount, I forgot) for 1 year did I became a avid “sharer”. It may sound like some tight-fisted guy who wanted to take advantage of Google’s goodwill. However, well…bit cliche but I promise it’s true, the more I share the more addicted I had become. I firstly being with things to do in Taipei then when I traveled to Italy, Germany, Hong Kong…I also shared my experience. I even tried to share in…Mainland China which doesn’t work very well but did my best anyway…
The magic that transformed me is Google Map’s convenience. Of course we know it’s the best “map” in most of the world (sadly to exclude Mainland China). But why not make it one of the best tour guide as well! That’s what I want to do, I want to make Google Map more rounded, more functional, solve more people’s problem in terms of travel. Instead of being a boffin in Google’s campus coding; I, as a ordinary person, can also do something to make this world better. This kind of devotion is my intention of sharing. I may be hooked by Google’s perks but I then become one of Local Guides’ family.
