How I became a Local Guide

Since I have almost no sense of direction I rely a lot on Google Maps to get around. When I visit a new place I usually check Maps to find out more about where to go, where to eat and how to get there.

One day I looked up a shop and navigated there just to find out it had been closed for some time. Disappointed, I looked for a way to send a notification to remove the business from Google Maps and that’s when I found the “suggest an edit” feature.

Ever since then, every time I look up a place and notice that there’s inaccurate, obsolete or missing information, I update it. Being a Local Guide to me isn’t just about sharing my personal experience, it’s more about making sure that the information Google Maps users like me are looking for is accurate. I appreciate how much easier others have made my life by editing the content and enjoy doing the same. The fact that I’m a tad obsessive compulsive certainly comes in handy in this case
