My name is Alexey Eliseev and I am addicted. And my addiction is rather strange. I cannot imagine a day without taking at least some shots. I am not a great professioinal photographer but does it really matter for anyone? But don’t think that I am a sort of narcissistic person which fills every its social media account with a tonn of stupid pictures of eaten breakfasts, purchased clothes and pickuped girls. I love to observe the world around me.
And what should I do with my numerous shots? I tried to sell some of them at photostock but was not too successful. So I decided to share my photos free.
I remembered that I liked to watch to very distant cities using Google Maps and Google Earth. And I began to make my own contribution to Google Maps. I feel so satisfied when I think that somebody from another side of the Earth can look at my photos of my city. Because I live in one of the beautiful city of the world!
And I hope to motivate people to visit my Kharkov.
And I feel happy when anybody asks me how to get to any place I know, or where is the finest coffee in the Old City, or any other question I can answer as a local guide. And what does it mean when a human becomes happy? Do you know the biochemical cause of happiness? This is a release of endorphins! And the human brain and body require a repetition of this process. This is how addiction is formed. But anyway such kind of addiction is much more better than any drugs addiction or something.
That’s the way how I transform my abnormal behavior into serving people. And is it really abnormal? That’s why I share my photos on Google Maps, if you want to know. And I don’t have any specific preferences. Kharkiv has amazing architecture. And looking at an absolutely amazing building from the outside you will not always be able to reliably determine what is inside it - great museum or a small pub.
