Ever get in a lull? Ever fight more than agree in a monogamous relationship? A question as simple as, “where should we eat tonight” can send you off the deep end…right us too.
My husband and I are opposites and that is putting it mildly. Where he likes structure and plans I like spontaneity and to fly by the seat of my pants. So vacations which should be fun and exciting often times looked like a high anxiety battle just like at home except now we don’t know where anything is. FUN RIGHT? Wrong we started avoiding travel even though we both describe this as essential in the way we plan to live our life. But travel was too stressful.
We finally decided to go on vacation again…took a three-year break after our last falling out…I mean vacation.
Google maps gave us the ability to live in both worlds. I got spontaneity of the day. So before we left home, outside of the hotel and flights I had no idea what was in store. We spent an entire week traveling across a state we were being introduced to through google maps. My husband could plan out the day from our hotel room by simply typing in addresses of places we wanted to go. Giving him the plan and structure he craved and giving me enough variety to not feel like the fun was being sucked out of the trip.
AND OUR VACATION LIVES CHANGED! We cannot wait to go explore some more. And we can do that without the struggle of how we want to spend our vacations. Google maps completely changed that for us. We will never look back at the struggle we used to have.
