How Google Map Saved me and comes to rescue #GoogleMaps #LocalGuide

I visited Las Vegas last year in Jan 2019, I planned a day trip outside the City to Mount Charleston.

During this trip, I realized how awesome technology from Google is heling million if lives on a daily basis.

Here is a video proof where Google Map was a #DigitalHero

I had rented a Ford Mustang from Las Vegas Airport to make commuting easy.

I made a quick plan to drive to Mount Charleston which is around 2 hours away from the heart of the city, the main reason was to experience snowfall in the desert area.

Usually, the desert is supposed to be the area full of sun and heat. After reading about Mount Charleston along with some snowy pictures, it made me curious enough to plan a visit.

I set the destination on the GPS of my car navigation unit and was cruising smoothly on the highway.

The main problem started when the road was blocked towards Mount Charleston, I tried to avoid that by driving around and taking a few diversions but the navigation unit keeps arriving at same blocked spot again and again.

I was middle of nowhere in a foreign land and it was difficult to find help out there.

I managed to pull my car at a safe location and used my Google Map as an alternative, thanks to the intelligent algorithms it was able to find me a diversion and lead me to destination without any further glitch ?

This also reminds me of the importance of hundreds of #LocalGuide who helped to add such information on Google Maps to make everyone’s life better. Myself at Level 8, so I feel so happy and proud to give back t the community.

Have you experienced such a story with Google Maps or technology?

Interesting story @kapilricky , good thing Google Maps was there to help!

I’ve had Google Maps save my skin a number of times and I always make sure to download maps in advance when I’m driving abroad. You never know when you might need it.

I like your choice of car by the way, I’ve always wanted to try driving a mustang myself and what better place to do it than in Vegas!

You read my mind, even i download offline map usually before travel.

For e.g. i ride a motorbike across Bali to explore remote places with no mobile network, but offline map halped me to stay on track.

That was my other happy time story

Regarding Mustang, its one of its own  :oncoming_automobile: :crossed_fingers:

No doubt it was my best road trip ever. Would suggest you to try same soon  :airplane: :oncoming_automobile:

I’ve been dreaming about a road trip in the states for a long time @kapilricky but perhaps I should start the planning soon.

I’m not sure it will be economically the best choice to drive across the country in a mustang but surely I will have to try one out just for a day or two.

Of course I have experienced that, during my time in Germany, where I had to drive hundreds of klms every day, and there was a lot of road construction and blocked intersections. Without Gmaps, I would be lost. I wouldn’t be able to work. Time and time again I was able to find my way thanks to this incredible app we are part of.

The drive is fabulous, loved it so much in cold weather

It was in Oct 2016 and still memories are so fresh :oncoming_automobile: :oncoming_automobile:

Only difference was, it was Ford Focus not Mustang

It will be the fastest car I’ve ever driven if I end up renting one of these @kapilricky . Maybe I should take it to a race track just to get the full experience of what such a car can do.

Either way I will have to include it in my next road trip adventure.

No, unfortunately I haven’t been there, but Germany is a very picturesque country with a lot of places to see and enjoy.

I would have preferred a Ford Mustang as well…!

Honestly I’m wrong focus with your car LOL

By the way how much you reached top speed during your driving ?

@MortenSI if you love speed as much as i do, then this is right one for you :slightly_smiling_face:

At the end of the day, 300-400$ may be less in your pocket but your mind will be full of awesome memories

@Thanos_Pal 100% Agree, Germany has very beautiful rodes and landscapes. The plus point, there is no hard speed limit on Autobahns :slightly_smiling_face:

The last visit was only 4 days. Now I regret, i should have planned for at least 10 days.

@Nyainurjanah he he he, you came to direct point: fast & furious

I obeyed speed limits everywhere i drove, I think the maximum was 140 KMPH as i remembered.

The main thrilling experience was on the Race Track where i drove Lamborghini

The maximum speed was 180KMPH as race track has a lot of twist and turns
