How do you review restaurants?

If there is anything that is super important for many travelers, tourists and other map users it is the Restaurant reviews and their rating in Google Maps.

After I reviewed many restaurants I want to ask you some about your experience and what is the most importent thing for you when you review a restaurant?

Do you have any special categories you prefer?

Do you upload the menu items?
Do you upload many images?

For me it has been mainly images and a small explanation about the service and the “Vibe” of the place and I’ll be happy to hear a bit from my friends here about new, inspiring or clever new ways to review a restaurant so it will better benefit the reader :grinning:

Thanx in advance!!!

  • Hello @JoniG for me, the most important aspect when I review a restaurant, is my experience with the place, the food and the staff. Take at least one photo of the restaurant: a picture speaks a thousand words.

But safety considerations are also crucial. Therefore, I also consider Covid-19 protocols: whether they are being adhered to at the entrance and in the restaurant.

Of equal importance is whether the restaurant is wheelchair friendly in respect of both parking and entrance into the restaurant.

Also, the potential tourist would like to know whether there are restroom facilities inside the restaurant.

Moreover, what payment methods are accepted?

At the end of the review, you must rate the retaurant out of 5 stars; and motivate your rating. This will assist and guide both the touris/traveller and the owner.

Thanx @Jereld !
I really like that you put a lot of effort in reviewing the accessibility of the restaurants and the covid restrictions :slightly_smiling_face:
It is super important!
What kind of photos do you prefer posting?
More of the restaurant itself or even the meals?
I find it hard to take photos of meals before I eat them (too hungry  )

Restaurants are at the top of the places I comment on the most. For me, seeing comes before food, so the more visual and beautiful the restaurant is, the more beautiful it is for me. The two things I especially pay attention to are taste and service. I can’t be happy if the service is not good even if it’s a very good meal. I also add as many pictures as possible so future plans can see where they came from.

Hi @JoniG thanks for asking. Firstly, my favorite photo is one that features a street view. I put the restaurant in the context of the street: for the purpose of " first impressions".

Secondly, I take photos of the menu to answer short questions.

I am also on a learning curve.

Thanks @Gezendunyali :grinning:

I believe that taste is very personal so I prefer talking more about the service and other parameters like warmth, cleanliness, freshness etc.

About the pictures you ate totally right in my opinion and adding as many as possible is always good :cowboy_hat_face:
