How do you manage/organize your Lists in Google Maps?
For example, i have around 300 saved local places and i create lists per country (Vietnam, Japan, …). I have also 150 local places in Want to go but it’s more of a placeholder.
I’d love to get your opinion as i haven’t really found a good way to do so .
Please let us know what you mean by manage/organize? Some edit functionalities are only available in apps. And you find your lists under Your Places and then select Saved.
@Saiyen gave you great links to follow. But I also have to admit that I have not found any hugely useful ways to use lists. Here are the two uses that I tend to use most:
Travel planning. When researching where I would like to visit, eat or get entertained before visiting a new city, I find lists can be useful. Also when figuring out how to get from the airport to my hotel using public transport. It nice to have the different places easily at hand.
Spam follow up. When I try to fix a business listing having stuffed keywords in their name, or capital letters or some location search terms I will save them to my GMB challenge list. That makes it easy to do a quick follow up later to see if more needs to be done. Here I also use the notes fields. Unfortunately there are quite a few persistent rule violates in some business categories like locksmiths, movers and car rental companies. Also app based bike rental services are misusing the map. And some pins have been on that list for way too long now
@Saiyen Thanks for the link. In fact a key question i have is… have Googlers built the feature for GMaps users to create list for others or for GMaps users to manage their own list? It’s seem to me that they create it for the forst intent whereas naturally people will use the feature to build list for them (my assumption). Can a Googler provide feedback on this?
Please take a look at the Create a list of places article. There you will find that the varieties to manage your list are two. You can either choose to hide it or to share it to be visible for others.
You can also follow others’ lists.
If you’d like to tag a Google Moderator, choose from the listed here, thanks.
