How do I report a park not showing up green on Google Maps?

Hello, I came across a park in my local area that does not show up with the green coloring like all other parks do. There is not a way to report this specific type of error that I’ve found. Does anyone know how to report to Google this park is not showing as colored green? Thanks for everyone’s input and direction.

Google Maps Veterans Park

Such data issues are better dealt with in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation supporting the change you are proposing. Copyright-free governmental maps are probably the best proof you can attach.

Without such official documentation you will not be successful.

Hi @plaskocordova

I know it can appear confusing, but the reason is that “Park” in Google Maps have two different meanings. To try an explanation of the difference between the two meanings let me try with an example of a place not so far from you:

  • Falcon Ridge Park is a green area, defined by a red dotted line. It is considered a simple area that can contain places inside his directory. The photos that you see in there are sourced from the listings in the directory.
  • Falcon Ridge Park is a green park, with attractions and a playground, where you can also go with your dogs

Both are defined as parks. The first one, being an area, has the green colour that is typical of the parks.

The second one is a listing, just a pin, like the one in your example.

There are unfortunately similar situations, e.g. squares, where the area and the listing have the same name, like the famous St Mark square in Venice

Thank you so much for your guidance and advice. I will seek out the proper documentation and post in the proper forum. Thank you, again!

Hi @plaskocordova

This is indeed wonderful for me to see even in the US with high-quality satellite imagery and close collaboration of authorities with Google, there are still such missing areas on the map. And to be honest, as I see surrounding lands are much greener than most parts of this park

As @MortenCopenhagen mentioned Maps support forum is the best place to describe such issues and request a correction. I also reported some similar requests for boundaries of the parks with success.

And @ErmesT truly mentioned to the different things we should know about such areas. In such cases as parks, universities, hospitals, and so on, we have a Boundary and a POI (one point at specific coordinates).

You may also see names for boundaries that belongs to the old days of Google Maps but in the middle of the 2010s, Google separated these two completely, so we used to add boundary and then attach one POI to them. These days for such perfect mapping, if we tap on the POI, we see the red dotted attached boundary (plus entrances in some cases).

Unfortunately, we’re no longer able to add/attach boundaries after Map Maker and the Google Maps support forum is the only way for such changes these days.
