How do I persuade Google to correct the Maps location of my house?

They show it about a mile south of where it really is, at someone else’s house on the street. I have used the Edit feature in Maps multiple times, but it has been completely ignored so far. Advice welcome.

Hi @pjtait

I trust that you did not use Suggest an edit and there is no pin on your private home.

Changing the address is normally not very hard.

Please check if the public /authoritative map typically maintained by the Municipality is having the same error. If so ask them to fix it. If not use the Maps support community as described below:

Such data issues are better dealt with in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tap at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation/map supporting the change you are proposing.

Cheers and best of luck

PS

I have noticed a bug in the fix an address function on Google Maps. It is not possible to move a house number. The house number is just duplicated = the old one will remain. Could it be that your house number is added but not the only one?

Cheers

Morten

Hi @pjtait , fixing an address in Google Maps is indeed possible, and I was able to do it recently, to fix some issue with some associated POI in may area.

Did you used the procedure mentioned by me?

In the same article you will also find te link to the procedure mentioned by @MortenCopenhagen for involving the public administration, as they can directly partner with Google by uploading the correct data in Google Maps
