So… I’ve been trying to get the follow option on my Google Maps profile, but nothing seems to work. I don’t think it’s still rolling out in my area because a family member of mine who also is a local guide, has the follow option already. Keep in mind I’m kind of new to the Local Guide community and that could be the reason.

@Delisha The option to follow another profile should be rolled out globally, according to the article below
Looking at your screenshot, it looks like you’re already able to follow profiles. Can you try to go someone else’s profile. You can do this from the reviews section of a location, and just click on the profile picture. There, you should be able to see the option to follow.
If you want to make sure others can directly follow you (no need to wait for your approval), you need to make your account unrestricted. You can do that by going to Google Maps profile > Edit Profile > Profile and privacy settings. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see the option for profile restriction.
Can you try the steps above and see if it works?

You need to be patient, as the feature is not rolled our completely, and a few Local Guides that I know have received it just a few days ago

@iyudhi Thank you so much for your help but for some reason I don’t have a restrict profile option in my profile settings. I think I just need to wait for the feature to finish rolling out.

@Delisha I just looked up your profile and the option to follow is indeed not there. So it does seem like the feature isn’t enabled yet for your profile like what @ErmesT said.
The article was written at the end of July 2020 and mentioned that the feature was going to be rolled out globally within a few weeks, so you’d expect everyone should have the feature by now. I guess we need to know the definition of a ‘few’ here 
Hopefully the feature will be enabled for you soon.
