How do I blur faces on a video of a public place?

I have a video that I want to share on Google Maps but it was taken in a crowded public place. Is there an app I can use to blur all the faces in the video so that I do not break the privacy rules please?

Hi @Dave26

You can search the Google Play with keywords “blur faces in the video”, and the store will display a big list.

At the same time, this facility or a workaround may be available in the standard built-in video editing tools on a desktop.

Hi @Dave26 ,

Thanks for reaching out.

As @C_T already suggested a quick search will help in this matter.

Please note I am going to relabel your post to the How-tos section of Connect, because it is the place here to ask questions and share tips.

Thanks @MashaPS and @C_T I will give these a try and recommend one… :sunglasses:

Here is what I have so far.

Google SEARCH = Face blur apps

Skitch. Price: Free, offers in-app purchases. … not available for Android
Video Mosaic. Price: Free This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
Video Toolbox Movie Maker. Price: Free… This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
MovStash. … This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
KineMaster – Pro Video Editor. … this looked good but face blur for video was not one of its functions

I read the reviews and apps got worse down this list
Blur Photos. …
Mosaic Pixelate Censor Photo. …
Point Blur. …
Blur Video - this changes the aspect ratio of the video

Play Store SEARCH = video face blur apps

Lightroom - not sure this does what I wanted
Blur Face - only works on photos not videos
Blur Video - did not work for me

ObscuraCam - was the nearest - it tried to follow the video and blur the face in each frame however it did it one face at a time and could not keep up with the video

Reading the reviews it sounds as though the function to blur all the faces in a video would be very processor
intensive with some reviewers saying their phone locked up for two hours. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5.

I looked at YouTube Studio but it expected me to log in first and process presumably videos which had already been uploaded which defeats the object of what I was trying to do which was to blur faces before publishing them.

I decided it was not worth it for one video so deleted the video!

However, I then looked at YouCut the UI looks good and you can buy “special effects” separate to the basic app like you might get on Snapchat. If they can do this then I will post it here.
